About Me

Alexis was born in Puerto Rico and studied Biology at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. He has worked in Dr. Gregory Quirk's lab as a research technician, and completed his postbac training under the mentorship of Dr. Dawen Cai and Dr. Cindy Chestek. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan under the supervision of Dr. Sara Aton. His dissertation research focuses on the role of orexin modulation of learning and memory. In his free time, Alexis enjoys learning how to code, reading, and planning his travels.
